Sheryl Odom, April 2009 Habitat Hero

Sheryl Odom volunteers at the Car Show every Father's Day. In 2008, she
worked the t-shirt table. In 2009, she served as one of several lead volunteers.

Sheryl Odom has been volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis since the fall of 2005. She said she was inspired by the following quote, “We are given TWO hands - one to care for ourselves, and one to help others."

After Hurricane Katrina, she was looking for a way to put her hands to work.That's when she met Jeff Capps at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis. Jeff needed help with the Quality Assurance Team, so Sheryl signed up and became a go-to volunteer.

She enjoys meeting new people and learning new construction skills when the chance arises. She also volunteers regularly with Habitat’s other events, including the Exotic Italian Car Show and the Tool Box Bash. In fall 2009, she plans to serve as a Habitat volunteer leader during the VESTA Home Show.

She said she looks forward to working with the staff at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis for many years to come.

Sheryl and her husband of 26 years moved to Memphis from Yokosuka, Japan in 1999. They have been married for 26+ years and have also lived in California and Hawaii.
