Committees

Memphis Habitat has committees that work year-round to support the organization’s mission. Most committees meet monthly and on an as-needed basis surrounding special events and initiatives. Individuals with special skills and talents that could be helpful to a particular committee’s work are urged to participate, but no prior experience is required.

Memphis Habitat offers several different committees and opportunities that are ongoing and are seeking volunteer support:

Construction Committee: Do you enjoy working on a construction site with other volunteers and assisting those who need help on a build site? We’re seeking volunteers who know or love working with tools and people. Every build day we rely on those with some experience to lead the construction of a house and groups of volunteers. We’re looking for anyone who is available on the weekends and/or weekdays. On-site training is available during both building seasons, spring and fall.

Meeting Times: Second Tuesday of every month (except during build projects) at 6 p.m. at the Habitat offices located at 169 Scott St., Memphis, TN 38112. Dinner is served! 

Availability: Volunteer space is currently available on the committee.

Volunteer Services Committee: Volunteer Services Committee is a brand new committee and looking for members who are willing to help on the build site, help with special events (aside from major annual events) and be available on short notice. The Volunteer Services committee organizes paperwork, sets up lunch for the construction volunteers, fills coolers, distributes snacks and answers questions on the build site. Volunteer Services also assists with other small, special events that occur throughout the year. It’s helpful if you’re available during the week but we certainly welcome anyone who is interested in volunteering in this capacity.

Meeting Times: Meetings are held two times a year, February and August, at 5:30 p.m. at the Habitat offices located at 169 Scott St., Memphis, TN 38112. Specific meeting date will be announced as we get closer to the month.

Office Support: Do you enjoy data entry, researching, stuffing envelopes and assisting with special events? Office support is always needed throughout the year, especially before our events! 

Meeting Times: You decide your own schedule. The Habitat offices are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

Availability: Volunteer space is currently available.

Ambassador Committee: The Ambassador Committee assists with planning and organizing donor events and informs current and potential supporters about upcoming events and opportunities.

Meeting Times: Meetings are held the first Thursday of every month from 5:30 to 7 p.m.at Junior League of Memphis. 

Availability: Volunteer space is currently available.

Youth United Committee: Plan fundraisers, awareness events and organize volunteers in preparation for the Youth Build. YU’s goal is for youths (aged 5 to 25) to fund and build their own Habitat house every spring.

Meeting Times: Meetings are held at the Germantown Library at 5:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month.

Availability: Volunteer space is currently available.
