Memphis Habitat to host Blue Prints & Blue Jeans women’s luncheon during Carter Work Project

Luncheon will feature special guests Mrs. Rosalynn Carter, Crissy Haslam and more

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis has announced the Blue Prints and Blue Jeans women’s luncheon, to be held on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 11:30 a.m. during Habitat for Humanity’s Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project. The luncheon and hard hat tour will take place at Memphis Habitat’s build site in the Bearwater Park area just north of Uptown, the location of the 2016 Carter Work Project.

This intimate luncheon will give women in the community the opportunity to see Habitat’s Carter Work Project in action, discuss the challenges women face when engaging their companies in the community, and learn about the ways Habitat for Humanity empowers homebuyers to achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build a better life for themselves and their families. Special guests for the event include former First Lady Mrs. Rosalynn Carter, Tennessee’s First Lady Crissy Haslam and the National Association of Women Business Owners Memphis Board President Dianne Dixon.

“It’s empowering to be able to hear from women, like Mrs. Carter, who have paved the way not only for women but also for all people and families around the world through her work with Habitat,” said Julie Romine, director of development and strategic alliances for Memphis Habitat. “Each woman who will speak at Blue Prints & Blue Jeans is incredible in her own right, but being able to hear from all of them in one setting is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that we are excited to provide.”

Felicia Suzanne’s will provide the food for the luncheon. Following the luncheon, guests will be invited to take a hard hat tour of the Carter Work Project build site to learn about the progress in Bearwater Park and the nearby community. Guests are asked to wear light, breathable clothing and closed-toe shoes to participate in the tour.

Funds raised from this luncheon will support Memphis Habitat’s continued work in Uptown and the greater Memphis area. Individual tickets for Blue Prints & Blue Jeans are available for $75 and tables for eight are $600. Parking for the event will be available at Pleasant Green Baptist Church, located at 913 Thomas St., Memphis TN 38107, and a continuous shuttle will be available to transport guests before, during and after the luncheon.
