We've known that this day would come at some point, but sharing this news isn't any easier - Jimmie Holmes, our beloved construction site supervisor for over 20 years, is officially retiring today.
If you've been on a Memphis Habitat build site just once or dozens of times, you've listened in on one of Jimmie's safety talks, made some noise, heard about Habitat "snakes," and been told that if you fall, it's "not the fall that gets ya - it's that sudden stop. So if you're gonna fall - just keep on fallin'."
Our office and the build site definitely won’t be the same without Jimmie. We wish him and his wife Carolyn the best as they move into enjoying retirement, but we'll miss him terribly at Habitat. (We have reminded Jimmie that there's always room for him on the Construction Committee, aka the Divorce Prevention Program.)
Jimmie has touched so many lives during his 20+ years at Memphis Habitat, and I know that many of you will want to send well wishes or share special memories with him. Here are a few ways you can:
