Homeowner, Partner Reception Kicks Off Memphis Habitat Spring Build

Homeowner, Partner Reception Kicks Off Memphis Habitat Spring Build

On Thursday, March 6, 30-plus volunteers, donors, board members, house-building partners, Construction Committee members and future Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis homeowners gathered at the Memphis Habitat offices for the Spring 2014 Build Kickoff Reception.

The reception is held before each building project as a meet ‘n’ greet for the homeowners and the partner organizations and volunteers who will help them build their new homes. It’s a great time of fellowship before construction begins!

Volunteer work will begin in the Uptown neighborhood near downtown Memphis on Friday, March 14. Over the next eight weeks, hundreds of volunteers from Memphis-area businesses, churches and other faith-based organizations, high schools and universities will work alongside homeowners to make their dream of first-time homeownership a reality.

Four Memphis-area families will build and buy their first homes with Memphis Habitat during the Spring 2014 Build season.

"Habitat provides a hand up toward homeownership with our 0%-interest, zero-profit mortgage," said Executive Director Dwayne Spencer. "We are looking forward to working with these new homeowner families and the partners who help make our work possible."
