Does your Sunday School class, prayer group or house of
worship host get-togethers for the big game each year? Or, is your youth group
looking for a fun fellowship event? Consider hosting an MX Performance Group HOME TEAM HUDDLE for
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis on Sunday, Feb. 1 or anytime during the
week leading up to the game. HOME TEAM HUDDLE is a great way for faith-based groups to
get involved with Memphis Habitat and support our mission!
Germantown United Methodist Church (GUMC) has long been
involved with Memphis Habitat. Congregants were involved in the earliest days
of Memphis Habitat, and since the late 1980s, the church has been raising funds
and bringing volunteers to help local families build and buy their first homes.
GUMC has built more homes than ANY Memphis Habitat house-building partner in
our nearly 32-year history!
The church also has involved with HOME TEAM HUDDLE since our
first event 11 years ago. Each year, numerous Sunday School classes host
HUDDLES in the homes of class members and spend Super Sunday in fellowship, raising funds for Habitat’s mission. The parties vary in size but not in
enthusiasm. The classes actually have a bit of a competition as to which class can
raise the most! Over the years, several GUMC classes have hosted
the top fundraising parties, and some GUMC members have even won the grand
prize! Our 2014 winners Bob and Ethel Matthews won our football getaway after
attending the Alpha Class’ 2014 HUDDLE.
