Spring Dedication Postponed, Rescheduled for May 13 at 5:30 p.m.

Due to wet conditions that made it impossible for us to get sod for our April 26 build day and dedication, Memphis Habitat has opted to reschedule the Spring 2014 Dedication Ceremony. It will now be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 5:30 p.m. in the same location in the Uptown neighborhood.

All house-building partner organizations, volunteers, donors and friends of Habitat are invited to attend!

On Tuesday, May 13 at 5:30 p.m., Memphis Habitat will host its Spring 2014 Build Dedication Ceremony in the Uptown neighborhood. At the ceremony, homeowners will celebrate their amazing achievement alongside Habitat staff, house-building partners, donors and volunteers.

To date, Memphis Habitat has constructed 17 homes in Uptown. The organization also has conducted critical repair work on more than 50 existing owner-occupied homes in the neighborhood. Uptown is Memphis Habitat’s current neighborhood of focus, and it has plans to build a total of 50 homes in the neighborhood and reach 100 critical repair projects there.

With the completion of the 2014 spring build, Memphis Habitat has now served more than 480 Memphis-area families via its house-building and critical repair programs. Habitat homeowners purchase their homes with a zero-interest mortgage, invest hundreds of hours of “sweat equity” and complete a multi-week financial education course.

House-building partners for spring 2014 include Ed and Sue Clark; Bolton High School National Honor Society; Bolton High School Volunteer Club; Buckeye Technologies, Inc.; Cargill; Cummins Inc; Germantown High School; Germantown Presbyterian Church; Germantown United Methodist Church; Grace United Methodist Church; Holy Rosary Catholic Church; Houston High School; Idlewild Presbyterian Church; International Paper; Pfizer; Rhodes College; St. Agnes Academy; St. Benedict at Auburndale High School; St. George’s Independent School; Stratas Foods and The University of Memphis Habitat Campus Chapter.
