Meet Inez
A home she loved. A place she no longer felt safe.
For more than 25 years, Inez’s house has been home. It’s where she built a life and created memories. But over time, critical repairs began to threaten the safety and security her home had always provided.
Holes in her roof allowed rain and critters into the house, causing damage and making it difficult for Inez to feel safe and secure at home. At the same time, Inez was facing another challenge: stage three cancer.
With so much already on her shoulders, the repairs her home needed became more than she could manage alone.
Through Memphis Habitat’s Aging In Place program, Inez received critical repairs to her home, including a new roof. While she was at church one Sunday, the work was completed.
When she returned home, something important had changed. She could feel safe there again.
“I feel safe now.”
For Inez, the repairs meant more than fixing a roof. They meant being able to remain in the home she loves with greater safety, security and peace of mind.
Inez is one of hundreds of older homeowners Memphis Habitat partners with each year through our Aging In Place program.
Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, older homeowners can receive critical repairs and accessibility modifications that help them continue living safely and independently at home.
You can help more older homeowners like Inez remain safely in the homes they love.
