Latonya and her son Marco are more than just the 600th family to purchase a home through Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis – they’re a powerful example of how your support transforms lives.
Before partnering with Memphis Habitat, their living conditions were far from acceptable. They longed for stability, safety, and a place to truly call home. Thanks to generous donors like you, that dream became a reality.
To prepare for homeownership, Latonya and Marco went all in. Latonya completed a 13-week homebuyer education program, gaining essential knowledge about mortgages, budgeting, and maintaining a home. At the same time, young Marco participated in Memphis Habitat’s children’s classes. He learned how to save, plan for his future, and even wrote heartfelt thank-you letters to our donors.
Working side by side, Latonya and Marco dedicated over 200 volunteer hours to build sites, our ReStore, and other community nonprofits, laying the foundation for a stronger future.
Today, Latonya and Marco are thriving. They’ve added a fence to their yard, love decorating for the holidays, and finally have a place where they feel safe and proud, a place to grow and dream.
