Dwayne Spencer Honored by Memphis Magazine as CEO of the Year
MEMPHIS, TN - Every year for over a decade, Memphis Magazine has celebrated chief executive officers who go above and beyond for their companies and communities. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis President and CEO Dwayne Spencer was honored among this impressive group of leaders for 2024.
Throughout the interview, Dwayne detailed his modest childhood in Somerville, Tennessee, and how it prepared him to lead Memphis Habitat. He also shared his journey since becoming the leader of the organization in 2001.
“Had I not grown up in the organization and seen all the strategies that worked when it was a small organization — and dreamed about the kinds of things we could do more broadly — I don’t know if I could do it. I’ve learned so much along the way. It’s experiential,” said Dwayne.
For over 20 years, Dwayne has led Memphis Habitat in building and repairing homes for hundreds of families in need. More Memphians have access to affordable homeownership thanks to his leadership.
“I was incredibly grateful to receive CEO of the Year from Memphis Magazine. Receiving this honor is not only a testament to my work but also to the joint efforts of my outstanding team at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis,” said Dwayne.
Memphis Habitat would like to congratulate Dwayne on receiving this impressive recognition! We know you’re an extraordinary leader, and we’re thankful that people outside our organization can see how remarkable you truly are.
