Memphis Habitat Named 2025 Neighborhood Builder by Bank of America Memphis
On Dec. 3, 2025, Bank of America Memphis recognized Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis as the 2025 Neighborhood Builder awardee for our work in building more prosperous and vibrant communities by providing safe and affordable housing.
As a Neighborhood Builder, Memphis Habitat will receive a $50,000 grant over two years, leadership training for President & CEO Dwayne Spencer and an emerging leader, and the opportunity to connect with nonprofits in a peer network.
“Memphis Habitat’s relationship with Bank of America goes back many years, with the bank providing volunteer and financial support for our homeownership program and other special projects,” Spencer said. “We are particularly grateful for this Neighborhood Builder grant because it marks our first multi-year grant from Bank of America. Multi-year, flexible funding like this is absolutely critical because it allows us to plan for the future.”
Spencer also shared that this Neighborhood Builder grant comes at an especially pivotal moment for Memphis Habitat, as we continue to raise funds to support our $62 MILLION “Framing the Future” campaign.
The campaign goals include:
- 150 new affordable homes built and sold with affordable Habitat mortgages
- 1,250 home repairs and modifications to help older homeowners age in place
- Building a land acquisition and development fund to plan for future projects
- Strengthening Habitat’s internal capacity, technology, and facilities
- Investing in the Memphis ReStore to increase earned income to support Habitat’s mission
“This campaign is designed to be transformational – to scale up and sustain the number of families Memphis Habitat serves – so we can remain a resource for many years to come.”
Bank of America’s funding will be a part of helping Memphis Habitat reach these campaign goals, specifically our goal to strengthen internal capacity.
