Habitat Lowes Grant

Memphis Habitat Receives $30,000 Lowe's Grant to Repair 4 Homes in Shelby County

MEMPHIS, TN — Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis recently received a $30,000 grant from Lowe's to help repair four homes in Shelby County.

With the support of this grant, Memphis Habitat was able to provide interventions for homeowners in need of critical repairs as well as mobility and accessibility modifications. Work included ramps, bathroom modifications, roof repairs, and other improvements designed to help clients remain safe and independent at home.

"We are so proud to welcome Lowe’s as a sponsor supporting our Aging in Place work,” said Dwayne Spencer, president and CEO of Memphis Habitat. “Thousands of local older homeowners need repairs that are financially out of reach. Through the repairs we were able to provide, more of our neighbors can improve their mobility and feel safer at home. We are grateful to Lowe’s for helping make that possible.”

On Friday, Dec. 1, Lowe’s associates from local stores joined Memphis Habitat to provide landscaping for one of the clients served through the repair grant.

The funding from Lowe’s is part of a two-year, $6 million donation to Habitat for Humanity International to support home repair and preservation efforts in owner-occupied homes. Through this partnership, more than 75 local Habitat affiliates will complete more than 480 projects this year to address critical health and safety issues in homes across the U.S. Since 2003, Lowe’s and Habitat have worked together to help more than 18,000 people build or improve a place to call home.
